Chick Focusing on Starting Season on Home Turf Before Joining JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour
Inside Line Promotions – DE SOTO, Kan. (May 2, 2017) – After careful consideration, Mandy Chick and her team have made changes to their schedule regarding the beginning of the 2017 season.
Chick was slated to make her debut with the JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour last weekend at Baer-Field Motorsports Park in Fort Wayne, Ind. Unfortunately, an immense amount of rain forced the event to be rescheduled for this upcoming weekend. However, Chick has prior commitments this weekend and has made the decision to go a different route for the month of May.
Chick will be in competition at Lebanon I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Mo., beginning May 13 before joining the JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour in June.
“Baer got postponed and unfortunately we are locked into other commitments this weekend,” she said. “That being said, Bristol, where rain has also washed out all of our preseason testing, is not the right place to open a season for a JEGS Rookie candidate driver. This creates a situation where it makes the most sense to take the time to test and race in May at I-44 before joining the JEGS Series at its next event – the Masters of the Pros 144 on June 3.
“We’ve never been more prepared, both organizational-wise and equipment-wise. So I’m really excited that our stuff is looking good and that we have great equipment this year. We just need to test and get some seat time before jumping straight into the season.
“Racing at I-44 for most of May will put us in a great position for where we will want to be for the rest of the JEGS/CRA All Stars season. The quantity of races for us is important so we can get plenty of seat time this year, but we’re not willing to sacrifice the quality of our performance for that.”
Chick has had success at Lebanon I-44 Speedway, claiming four top-five finishes and 12 top 10s en route to rounding out the 2016 season ranked sixth in the championship standings.
“I’m excited to race at I-44 again,” she said. “I’ve become very familiar with that track. I know we’re close to our first pro late model win and even multiple wins.
“Also, last week we had a meeting with www.323.TV and they have stepped up their support with us a lot this year. We’re very appreciative of their partnership with us and all they do.”
